Blog 1/Meg… Remington Pearl Wand!

Hello,

Welcome… finally to my first blog … Hoorrayyy!

I apologise for the delay … however life got in the way a bit… but you now have my full attention!

I think first I am going to tell you a little about my side of the blog… I plan on reviewing a variety of products, and while reviewing I plan on giving little hints and tips on how I use them and showing you links, videos and websites that have helped me with the product or products! At the end of my blog I plan to give the product a rating out of 50! Based on certain criteria, so products can be compared!

So here goes …

The Remington Pearl Wand-

Top temperature 210 degrees c -The temperature can be adjusted to achieve the best results, when at its top temperature you can create tight curls in a matter of seconds, this is the temperature I tend to use if anything as it is so quick (its obvious but its hot and if it even bumps your skin it burns) the main teqnique is less hair for tighter curls and more hair for waves (see the youtube link below for technique) higher and lower heat can also help for controlling the type of curls you want!

Fast heat up in 30 seconds- this applies to the lowest heat so a bit of cheat from Remington but not a lie … yes 30 seconds for 130 degrees c, but you have to wait a little bit longer for top temperatures, I usually pop mine on and then prep my hair, brushing, heat protection and sectioning, then it should be ready!

A Cool Tip- this tip is perfect I hold it and don’t feel any heat coming from the wand!

Safety Shut off - always a good thing to have, and it does work, spent a good 2/3 hours curling jess’ hair in the style she’s named ‘ragdoll swag’ and after about 2 hours the wand turned off!

Heat Proof Pouch- this is in a nice champagne gold colour, really like seems heat proof not really had to test it, my only complaint would be that it doesn’t fit the plug bit into it… would love to be able to use it as a carry case! However I have found I can kind of fit the plug in the top!

3m Salon Length Swivel Cord- really good length, perfect for me as my plug sockets are in such random places, perfect length, and the swivel cord has caused me no problems.

Protection Glove- Does what it says on the tin. It’s a good idea however I think they may have just created a normal black winter glove, but I think with some development the glove could be great. Last thing with the glove don’t do too much hair touching with your hair as you will end up static!

Tips and hints: Always heat protect your hair… at the moment im alternating between a vo5 heat protector (£3.69 at boots)and an aussie protector (£4.69 at boots)

Use a hair mask every couple of weeks, helps to restore moisture and repair heat damaged hair i am currently using a lee stafford hair growth mask, this isnt specifically for damaged hair but it works to moisturise and repair! (£7.99 at boots)

Boots is on a 3 for 2 mix and match at the moment so i great time to pop in and get all of your beauty essentials!

For more hints and tips and techniques take a look at our good friend beckys great video using a wand… in her video she uses a babyliss wand (i looked at this one too when shopping around) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmoxJpuSb2k&context=C4c1817bADvjVQa1PpcFOnKgEH1l_Kol4gc873MTP3wPx1SiHoeB4= subscribe and take a look at her other videos … from a beautiful ‘real girls’ perspective!

Rating:

Price - 9/10 (£25.49 at boots)

Performance- 9/10 (can’t fault it really, a few minor developments for full marks)

Packaging and Style- 8/10 (the outer box is a bit bland… but love the look of the wand and the pouch)

Information- 8/10 (the information for heat up time let me down a bit… but I am picky)

User Friendly- 8/10 (I do burn my self a lot, thats more me than the product though)

Rating-42/50

This is just my opinion. I haven’t been paid or sponsored to mention any of these products.

BB Cream

Hello! It’s been a while. But we’re back. We finally have the organisation and the time to get rolling with the blog.

Just a little update on what we’ve been up to, to explain our silence…
Meg passed her driving test! Yay!
Jess had uni work coming out of her ears… NICE!
But we have free time now as it’s Easter! Hurray for chocolate eggs.

We are going to chat BB Cream.

The origin of BB Cream is Asia and cleverly we pinched it and now have it here in the UK. It’s basically a kind of foundation, a kind of tinted moisturiser and a kind of primer. BB stands for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm.

There are loads of different ones out there on the beauty market at the moment but we’ve been using the No 7 ones. They do 2 shades: light and medium. And for 3 different skin types: Oily/Normal and Dry/Normal as well as Dry/Very Dry skin.

Meg has got the light shade and has tried both the oily and dry products. Meg describes her skin as reasonably ‘normal’ but it changes fairly regularly… combination skin. She gets dry patches, it can get oily but it tends to be pretty ‘normal’. Boots don’t do a combination skin BB Cream… We think perhaps they should. When Meg used the dry one in the colder weather it tended to give her a bit of extra oil which was obviously intended to make up for the dryness of her skin. Since we had the warmer weather the product has been brilliant. It’s good for the summer as the coverage is really light and you don’t get that awful itchy sensation of the sun baking your foundation onto your face. It’s also got SPF 15 in it which is a BIG pro.

Jess has the medium oily/normal BB Cream. As she tends to get oil across her t-zone throughout the day. She isn’t sure that the BB Cream is helping this as she still tends to feel fairly oily on her face at the end of the day. However, her skin improves when she wears it as the coverage is lighter and perhaps the product does hold some healing qualities. Jess prefers a slightly heavier coverage when she doesn’t have a tan but does feel that this product would be perfect for the summer and hotter weather.

The No 7 BB Cream costs £12.95 and Boots has a 3 for 2 mix and match across all beauty products at the moment which is brilliant!

Jess’ best friend and Meg’s kind of 2nd big sister Becky has a YouTube beauty channel, recently Jess visited her and appeared in a couple of videos, one of which was a beauty haul in this Becky reviewed her Garnier BB Cream. So for a different BB Cream have a look and don’t forget to subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr0cs-WFs3o&context=C4dd3df2ADvjVQa1PpcFOnKgEH1l_KopyYENaxKLJvtMfOXaFz05E=
